Simon sucks his thumb, and none of his parents’ attempts to stop him have any success. In the playground the other children don’t want to play with him because he has his thumb in his mouth most of the time, and in the kindergarten they tell him stories about how his thumb is going to grow to the length of an earthworm.
Only daddy understands Simon. He sucked his thumb, too. However, he badly shifted his jaw and had to go to the dentist quite a lot as a child.
When Simon finally starts going to school, he is so busy that there is absolutely no time left for sucking his thumb.
